We at Thunderlicious are passionate about empowering women in their own bodies and in our beautiful world!
"The world is mud-licious and puddle-wonderful."
- E.E. Cummings
In the 70’s and 80’s when women were wearing sleek black stretch pants skiing, I was skiing in men’s jeans with darts sewn in the waist over cotton insulated underwear. By the end of the day, I would be soaking wet. I had to keep moving so my body heat would keep my pants from freezing.
After years of believing that there was something wrong with my body, I chose to embrace who I am and to love and accept my thunder thighs and tree trunk calves and ankles. Rather than continue to scorn my body and think thoughts that I would never be able to play comfortably, I search the web thinking there had to be some company out there that would have pants for me to play in. I searched, became hopeful, ordered, tried on and sent them back, over and over again. No designer or company seemed to understand my dilemma. I thought, there has to be other women out there as discouraged as I am with the outdoor clothing industry.
As I was driving home from playing on the red rock of Southern Utah, I kept thinking about how discouraged I was with my clothing options. I decided right there and then to start a clothing company for women with thighs…why?....so I could have pants to play in! I wanted a descriptive playful name that described my clothing dilemma. Wah-La……..Thunderlicious Apparel was born!
I love assisting women to live in the power of who they are; really living to be all they can be without comparison and judgement of themselves or one another. Having pants that fit can make all the difference in how a woman feels about herself.
The thought came to me that my custom pant company could make a huge difference in the lives of not only the women who wear my pants, but many other women. I wanted to help women right here in my neighborhood. In Idaho, there are so many very talented women who have young children and want to be at home to raise them. Many of them live just above the poverty level, so they can influence the next generation. By giving women the opportunity to create the Thunderlicious line of clothing in their homes, they could make some play money for Christmas gifts, vacations, new furniture, etc. for their families to enjoy! What a dream; pants that fit so you and I can play and empowering women at the same time.
Welcome to the Thunderlicious play experience.

Lorana
Hi, I am Lorana Johnson. I was born into a family of large legged women. It has always been a challenge to find pants to do anything, especially to play in, and I love to play outdoors! I have spent thousands of hours developing a pattern making process to fit all figures and searching for the right fabric. My dream it is that all women, myself included, will have in their closet (and on their bottoms) pants that fit, are durable, comfortable and fun to play in.
Susan
I can often be found taking my children and grandchildren on drives to explore new places; climbing in the City of Rocks, hiking at Craters of the Moon, searching for quartz crystals at Crystal Park, Montana and other fun adventures. All summer season I make it a point to go on a hike or bike ride each week. In the winter I often go cross country skiing. Because of my love for the outdoors and experience designing and sewing clothing I am thrilled to be part of the Thunderlicious team.

Meet our Seamstresses
Lorana
I learned to sew in a 4-H club in grade school. It was nerve racking to know that at the county fair someone would be judging my sewing ability. I soon realized that for me to have clothes to fit my long legs and large thighs I would have to make them and that I would be the only one looking at the seams. So I kept on sewing, I even designed and sewed my own wedding dress. I don’t really enjoy sewing in my spare time but do it out of necessity. My desire to design Thunderlicious Pants was not out of a love of sitting at a sewing machine but out of a desire to have play clothes that fit.
Susan
I am the mother of eight children, six of them daughters. I have spent a lot of time designing and sewing little dresses, tiny tuxedos, prom dresses, costumes, etc. Because of my love for the outdoors and experience designing and sewing clothing I am thrillled to be part of the Thunderlicious team.

Roselyn
Hi, I'm Roselyn. My friends call me Rosie. I have been sewing for most of my life. I've done sewing projects for many individuals. I worked in a men's jean making facility, which I really enjoyed; I learned a lot there. When Thunderlicious Apparel came my way I felt confident in the process and have enjoyed the experience. I am grateful to be part of the Thunderlicious team and I hope to be sewing for you in the future.
